Noorani Qaida Harakat lesson for kids showing Zabar Zer and Pesh

Noorani Qaida Lesson 3: Learn Harakat (Zabar, Zer & Pesh) with 4 Fun Games

Learn Zabar (Fathah), Zer (Kasrah), and Pesh (Dammah), practise three-letter Arabic words from right to left, and strengthen your recognition with four interactive games.

1. Understand the Three Harakat (Short Vowels)

Harakat are short-vowel marks in Arabic. Pronounce them briefly and naturally. Do not stretch a short vowel into a long vowel (Madd).

Zabar · Fathah (ـَ)
بَ

A short “a” sound above the letter.

Zer · Kasrah (ـِ)
بِ

A short “i” sound below the letter.

Pesh · Dammah (ـُ)
بُ

A short “u” sound, with rounded lips.

Teacher’s Tip: A Harakah is short; Madd is a separate lengthening rule. Practise the correct sound and duration with a qualified Quran teacher.

2. Read Three-Letter Words: Hija and Rawaan

Hija means spelling each letter with its vowel mark step by step. Rawaan means reading the whole word fluently while preserving each sound. Arabic is read from right to left.
